Rose, so sorry about your sister in law. My mom's rads' for her lung cancer made her throat terribly sore so I can only imagine how it must hurt to have rads directly to that area. Keeping good thoughts for her and her family. Hope and strength...

I volunteer for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and will soon become a peer mentor. I was going to do the training last summer but I got my metastasis diagnosis. I had a few peer mentors when I was first diagnosed. A local support group is the best resource, not just for yourself but if you need to help others.
Wonderful husband, Jim, four dogs, and 8 cats and bubbies on the way!Living on the shore of Delaware. Dx 11/4/08 triple neg. m, I was a peer mentor (x2)with the DBCC, but think I jumped into the water a bit too soon and dropped by the wayside. I hope it is a good and positive experience for you!

Hi everyone. I thought that this thought belonged here, rather than starting a new thread. I had my checkup today with my onc, and got my IV of Reclast. It has been 3 years since my diagnosis. first the celebration - You all know we went to the west coast. Well, we went to Yosemite, and they wanted - for a fee - to upgrade us to the fancy hotel While my husband and I were discussing it, I mentioned to the clerk that we were celebrating 3 years cancer free. So? No fee! We had a wonderful dinner at the Ahwahnee restaurant - such a wonderful celebration. Really recommend the pecan pie. Anyway, I went to the doctor, and told him of all my minor aches and pains. You know, they're all cancer until we are told they're not. My port site aches (Hubby thinks I have some scarring in there) My arm has been aching - it felt better once when I wore the sleeve. He just treated me like a normal person - with a few battle scars, yet basically cancer free! We set up all the next tests, of course, the MRI, PET and Dexa but I left feeling....normal. Not panicked, just OK. Well, except for the time I went into their bathroom - somehow the memories got strong there (the smell of their disinfectant?) and I felt a little sucker-punched. But basically, I'm OK, I'm normal. And it feels strange.
