I just heard about IORT (intraoperative radiation therapy) Breast Program directed by Joshua Ellenhorn, MD in Los Angeles.  He is a very qualified surgical oncologist and has an extensive academic background as well  Any thoughts about IORT?

I just replied on your other thread Hannah, I've never heard of this and would advise researching more on any clinical trials that have been done on this and what the results were from an independant source rather than this Dr himself!

Hi it's Hannah.  I could not login as Hannah1946 because I forgot my password, so I am now Forgetful1946

Of course we researched the treatment.  There was a large clinical trial involving over 2000 patients which showed the treatment was equivalent to standard long course radiation treatment.  Please take a look:  http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140673610608379/abstract?rss=yes
You can of course contact Dr. Ellenhorn via his website (www.complexsurgicaloncology.com) and I am sure he will answer your questions. Alternatively you can google him.  His accomplishments in the oncologic research world are pretty impressive. He has authored numerous academic articles.
