Hi Julie and thanks for the update and I'm sure whatever you decide you'll feel confident going forward having seen the Onc and getting his opinion and the Oncotype too.

Hi Julie,
I had a lumpectomy last year (0.7cm), and it was ER and PR + (99%). Her2 -, negative nodes.
I had radiotherapy and I am currently on Hormone therapy. But I was very very close on getting chemo, since I am young (32). How old are you?

Hi Julie,
I'm kind of in the same boat as you so we'll have to compare notes! I had my mastectomy on the 6th and am recovering. All my path reports were negative, but my surgeon said my oncologist may recommend that I have chemo and she also said that she may want to do the oncotype too.
My appt. is next Thurs. so we'll see what happens.
Now if I could get these damn drains out!! :/

Hello everyone,

Another update - I got my oncotype score today - it was a 16 so NO CHEMO!!  I am so happy since it never felt right for me.  I wanted to also let others know that there is hope to not have to go through radiation or chemo if breast cancer is found early - although it does help many people but there are some like me who don't have to go through this.  Praise God!
ER+ 95%, PR+ 93%
HER-2 negative
BRCA negative
Grade 2
Onco Type - 16
No Chemo/Radiation
1.5 cm tumor, negative nodes, 1 with "isolated cells"

Starting lupron soon :(

Thank you everyone!  I also forgot to answer Ale's question - I am 37.  I have to say I am so thankful for the Oncotype test because this really saved me from going through chemo when back in past years, I probably would have been advised to go through it.  I was at first told from my surgeon that she would recommend it because I'm "young." My personal opinion about going through chemo because a person is young makes no sense.  I feel there aren't any guarantees in life and although chemo is absolutely necessary for some people, for others like me chemo was more of an "insurance."  Of course this "insurance" doesn't come without side effects and some of which could appear in years down the road.  I don't feel this is the type of "insurance" women should have to go through if it isn't absolutely necessary.  It is wonderful that women going through BC in today's time have access to more information and can make a more informed decision about their treatment options and not just do something out of fear.

Now I'll have to decide what type of hormonal treatment to go through.  My doctor mentioned tamoxifin and the lupron injection.  He was leaning more towards lupron but I'd like to know what others feel about these two options and what others are out there?  I want to make a very informed decision about this too.  Thanks everyone!

Hi Julie, I am a Julie too! Here is a link that explains clearly the difference of how the tamoxifen works as opposed to the Aromitace inhibitors.  Both do a good job and each have their side effects.  http://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/hormonal/
I have taken both...a few side effects but nothing so awful that I wouldn't continue.  Write down your questions for your onc...so you don't forget what you want to ask. Keep us up on how you are doing!
Hope and strength,
Julie
