Re:NO MORE DONATIONS TO KOMEN NOW IT'S PLANNED PARENTHOOD
-

LKG22 HOW SAD A DAY THIS IS. ANYONE WHO DONATES TO KOMEN SHOULD NOW DONATE TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD. SHAME ON YOU KOMEN FOUNDATION for bowing to policitical pressure. Some Representative could decide they don't like what your organization is doing and start an equally bogus investigation about you; then what would you do? Stop funding yourself? I will no longer donate any money to SGK Foundation, nor will I sponsor runners and walkers, nor will I fundraise as I have done in the past. I will donate my money, time and effort now to Planned Parenthood. I say again, SHAME ON YOU!

I am a breast cancer genomics researcher, and I am deeply saddened by Komen's decision.

I spend every day working to find new drug targets to fight breast cancer. I used to support Komen, but feel that the decision to defund breast cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood has shamed the community. I am one of the women who uses Planned Parenthood for affordable cancer screenings. I have never, and will never have an abortion. I shudder to think about the impact this will have on the many women who, like me, turn to Planned Parenthood for affordable, sliding pay scale care. I am appalled by the immaturity of those who equate Planned Parenthood only with abortion, and choose to completely ignore the lives saved through cancer screening. Because I work in breast cancer genomics, I am well aware that the best chance we have to fight breast cancer now is through early detection and screening. The hypocrisy of those who support the decision to deny these crucial screening services to so many women is astounding.

I can't believe this has been done. I thought so much better of SGK. What a disappointment. Shame

It's a sickening feeling for what they have done.

Komen used to be a classy organization, but it seems to have been taken over by a bunch of crazies... Personal responsibility means personal responsibility all the time, not when it's only convenient. You zealots are all such a bunch of hypocrites..

I was adopted. I love my children. I am a Christian stay-at-home-mom. I am as pro-life as they come, but I am also educated, realistic and rational. When I was young, PP was there for me when I had no money and no insurance, but I had a large cyst/tumor. They did surgery, biopies, and after care - all for nothing. I insisted on giving them everything in my checking account at the time, which amounted to less than $20. In fact, from 1997-2002, PP was my only source of healthcare. And I’ve NEVER had an unintended pregnancy. My heart goes out to anyone who has. I am grateful that my mother chose to have me instead of having an abortion. In fact, only 3% of PP’s work even involves that. Now that my life has drastically improved for the better, and we are pretty well off, we have been donating to Komen over the past five years. Well, that ends now. My donations will go to PP, earmarked for mammograms and women's health. This is about quality healthcare for all women, not abortion or politics. The God I know would want healthcare for all people, not just those who can afford it. While we might not agree with abortion, why would you cut off your nose to spite your face? Komen is going to feel some financial hurt after this move. God Bless.

I am just wondering, do you agree with women less fortunate than you (who have never had an abortion) dying of breast cancer because of not having access to mammograms?
