Less awareness gets less research. 2.While it is much easier to get wrapped up in emotion and ideology, mammograms are not included in the services provided by Planned Parenthood. Repeat: Zero as in not 1 woman had a mammogram at any planned Parenthood site. (which does not mean PP doesn't provide an important service to women) 3."In the most recent Gallup poll on abortion, as many Americans described themselves as pro-life as called themselves pro-choice.....These results do not vary appreciably by gender: half of American women described themselves as pro-life." (New York Times, Ross Douthat, 2/5/2012). Women and men feel strongly and are divided on the issue of abortion which only underscores why Komen may have wanted to find another alternative to PP.

Planned Parenthood provides critical health care services to women who can't afford treatment elsewhere. In fact, there are scores and scores of posts on SGK forums from women who credit PP with saving their lives because of breast health screenings they got at PP. SGK does not in any way fund abortions performed by PP. SGK itself stated in 2011 that NOT ONE DIME of the money it gives to Planned Parenthood goes to abortions. Yes, that's right, SGK made that statement several times in defense of accusations that it was helping to fund abortions by giving grant money to PP. Since PP is saving lives through breast cancer screenings, and since SGK itself says its funding isn't used for abortion, SGK needs to stay out of the politics of pro-choice and pro-life and stick with the issue of equal access to breast health care for ALL. I don't know about you but my breasts don't care about the politics of my uterus.
