Spelling of new cancer drug
-
Wednesday, July 04, 2012 1:32 PM
So far all the chemos that have been tried on me have not worked too well. My CA 127-129 keep going up, slowly, but still up. So now the one that they are contemplating giving me is called Havalin, but I can't seem to get the right spelling to find out any information about this. Can anyone help?
Found lump at age 65 - 9-05; DX 11-05; Surgery 12-05; Port installed - 3-06; chemo - 1st 4-10-06, last - 7-10-06; Arimidex - 8-1-06, went topless - 9-23-06; port removed - 3-20-07 Mets to the bones, official diagnosis June 2011, Faslodez failed me; Port reinserted 10/11/11; Taxotere 10/24/11, Xeloda, 3 or 4 cycles, couldn't tolerate it at all. 10 cycles of Halavan. Next up: back to Faslodez for 1 year.

Tai I know this is very scary and over whelming right now and the early weeks were the same for all of us, it does get easier once the initial panic eases and you get a treatment plan. I hope it will reassure you to know we have many long term survivors here with a far worse prognosis than you have and they're still doing well so please take a deep breath and know the outlook is not as grim as you fear. What surgery are you thinking of having and what does your surgeon recommend if anything ?? If you check the surgery/recon forum you'll see posts from ladies who have had most surgeries available so that may help you, I hope you wont need chemo but to be honest even that is not as bad as we fear. The stats on surviving this are so much better now than in the past so please take some reassurance that you will get through this and we can help you!((((hugs)))))

Thanks Tricia. That's just what I needed. It gives me enough info to help with the decision making. The decision to try this will take place on July 23rd.
