Marian: I have Medicare Advantage insurance coverage,. All the bills are filed with the Advantage Insurance who works with Medicare to make the payments. So far this has worked pretty good for me but I can't tell you what the breakdown is by what portion was Medicare and what was the insurance company. I do pay the regular doctor co-pays, surgery co-pays and some on chemo. I don't know what I will have to pay on radiation since that has just been billed. So far, out of the total billed, incl rads is about $150,000 and I have paid almost $4,000 out of pocket. That is a lot but a lot less than I expected. This hasn't included prescription meds but that isn't a lot for my portion. I would strongly advise getting the additional insurance if you can afford it. There are a lot to choose from and some are the Medicare Advantage and some are Medicare supplemental and probably others too. I hope this helps some.

Marian - I am on Medicare with a secondary insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield). I did not pay any money out of pocket. I hope you have the same experience. My docs and treatments were all at the University of California, San Diego and I'm not sure, but that may have something to do with my coverage.
