Re:Daily Diary of Joy - Sunday, June 24, 2012 1:08 PM
Crazy days around here. I knew that my spring work lull would end when summer came, but I had no idea just how "big" it would end. I'm almost afraid to open my email for fear of another job coming in. Well, it pays for vacations and keeps my brain working, so it's a good thing. I've scheduled a dissertation to edit the week of July 24 and then I'm taking a week off. David will be in Canada, so I'll spend four days with my sister and then come home and get Karen's room ready.

Poor Karen is sick as a dog. She went to an orphanage near the Burman border last week to volunteer. It was a great experience, but she said the hygiene conditions were horrendous. I hope she just has a virus. The doctor told her to give it a few days and then to go to the pharmacy for antibiotics if she's not better. She called yesterday but could hardly talk because her throat was so sore. Ugh. This has been a wonderful adventure for her, but I can't wait to have her back here.  A friend of hers posted this link to photos of Mt. Kilimanjaro on her Facebook page. If anyone wants to see it: http://www.fotopedia.com/magazine/stories/Leh9LPHQDtc/Trekking_Mount_Kilimanjaro#_=_
They're stunning and (to me) a little scary.

I'm joyous over the fact that our June has not been a typical June. Usually,  the fog rolls in and stays either all day or burns off about an hour before sunset. We've been having a streak of sunny days, and it's so wonderful for the spirits! I hope you are all enjoying some nice weather where you are.

xo

Rena I'm sorry to read about Karen and hope she feels better soon and will enjoy checking the pic's when I send this and thanks for the link! Re work, hubby always found it was a feast or a famine when self employed and I'm glad you'll get the chance to visit your sister:) My daily joy is I've just spent a lovely weekend with Ian and he brought his laptop to show me lots of pic's and recent video's of Una and once I pick up my new laptop this week he'll send them on to me. I had to laugh that she did a sponsered walk this week with her Teddy in aid of BC and even wore a cute pink dress awww....:) It was nice to have all the family together for a very enjoyable meal on Friday evening and the restaurant even gave us a round of drinks on the house lol Btw I've noticed my smilies are not working so will ask the admin about it so if this is happening to anyone else I'll update soon:)

Tricia, I'm so glad you had a good visit with Ian and got all caught up on Una's photos and videos. It must have been so nice to have everyone together. It's so hard for families to all be in the same place at the same time these days, so that must have been very special! xoxo

Thanks Rena and it is here as so many young people have emigrated as there are few jobs here but thankfully Ian's move was the best and he's doing well and enjoying planting their new garden which they do together:) Wr're thinking of taking the car and getting the ferry to Scotland to see Una but also take a few days enjoying the highlands which are beautiful!:)
