Cleaning For a Reason Organization - Thursday, July 03, 2008 6:43 AM
Everyone:

Not sure if you've heard of this or not and I know it won't help pay the bills people are facing, but my new cleaning woman is part of an organization that will provide 4 free house cleanings to cancer patients undergoing treatment.   They are in a lot of states so anyone interested might want to check out the website.

Wow! What a wonderful service. I sure could have used it while I was going through chemo. Has anyone tried it???

Thank you sooooooooooooooo much for passing this along!  I have just passed it on to my survivor sisters here in So. Bend!  This will come in handy for a lot of cancer patients and as Donna said this could have come in handy way back when.

Thanks bunches!

Wow!  This is so cool!  We all know how much better we feel if our house is clean!!!
I think this is something our SOS sisters should have on their list.

Hope and strength,
Julie

Thanks

OH MY GOD. I just went to there website and THEY CALLED ME BACK IN 10 MIN.   All you have to do is reg. and get a Dr's note saying you have cancer and are undergoing treatment. I told them I was doing rads now, but would be done in about a month. No problem, they will still do the 1 per month cleaning for the next 3 months too.

Leesa - Glad you had success with them.  I'm done with treatment so wasn't able to utilize them, but when my cleaning lady told me about it, I just knew I had to pass it on to my Komen Sisters.   I wish I had known about them a year ago - would have helped me a lot.

Wow--I wish I'd known during treatment, too.

I'm going to make a donation.

Are there any similar services that help with childcare? So many young mothers...

Good luck to you if they actually follow through. We had a horrible experience with this organization. We first heard about them before I started chemo. That was back in February. Yes, we did initially get contacted and confirmed they got the paper work. Then...nothing. My husband contacted them a few times trying to follow-up as chemo pretty much had me bed-ridden most of the time. They kept making promises but nothing ever came of it. We finally gave up on them as I finished chemo in June.

I hope someone else had a better experience than we did. If they couldn't fulfill our request then they shouldn't have kept promising they would do so when we called or they could have at least had the courtesy to contact us themselves. I thought the whole experience was pretty awful. Fortunately, we had others who ended up pitching in to help.
