Chemo Kit
-
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 8:29 PM
My sister brought me a basket of goodies before my 1st round and there are things in there that I would suggest anyone starting their treatment put in thier "chemo kit". It is nice to have all of this on hand since when/if you are feeling crappy you don't have to worry about getting to the store. People are always wanting and asking what we need...make this a "chemo registry"!! Have everyone bring 2-3 things...maybe like a treasure hunt!!! - Anti diahrrea tablets
- Stool softeners (all those meds can get to you)
- Preparation H wipes
- Aveeno oatmeal bath
- Benadryl
- Tylenol
- Lemon drop candy (this can wake up your taste buds)
- Pedialyte or Gatorade
- Lubriderm Lotion (skin gets dry)
- Canker Sore rinse (these some up overnight and it works like a charm!)
- Comfy PJ's
- Good book and magazines
- Frozen lemon bars
- Lip Balm (these get dry too!)
- Sleep Aid
I'm sure there are others out there that will add great ideas to this list!!

What a great idea! My sister just ran out to get those items on the list that we don't have already. I'm a bit new to chemo - started yesterday - but will add to the list as I think of things. Thanks!

That's a great list! I'm done with chemo but I agree, all of those things are good to have around. I would add one of those small travel-sized pillows...they are good to tuck here and there; like under your arm or even between your knees. It's sometimes hard to be comfy during and after chemo. I also had an iPod that i listened to during chemo so if anyone wanted to give CD's of some nice, relaxing music, it could be added to the iPod or you could listen to it at home on a stereo or take with you if you have a portable CD player with headphones. A good water bottle is handy too...it's important to keep hydrated and I found a good one at Target...it seals up for transport and has a straw that disappears into the lid when it's twisted closed. Maybe others have good ideas too...this is a great idea! Nancy
