Oh Tricia, how fun to have a new "tool" (I started to say toy but that is something we don't really need, a tool is necessary!) Have fun shopping...although a bit harder to shop with a slow computer.

Tricia, glad your old computer is working! I have an old Mac--my first one, which looks like an antique now--and it still works. Sometimes I need to go back to look for an old document or photo, so I'm grateful it works. When you get your new one, ask about the keyboard cover I mentioned--it really helps to protect your computer when you have cats! That Jack! Seems like he's been getting into everything lately. We have Audrey on canned food now because she stopped eating the dry food again and is losing weight. She also started on thyroid medication. The mornings are a circus! The other three have figured out that Audrey gets to go in the bathroom and eat canned food, while they still have to eat their dry food in the kitchen. And they are FAST! By the time I got Joey out the bathroom, Kipper was in there, and then I got him out and Joey and Phoebe were in. It was like cats on a conveyor belt til I finally got everyone but Audrey out of the bathroom! Well, at least I get some exercise. Karen is in Laos getting her work visa. She'll have some stories to tell. She took a nine-hour bus ride, then another bus to the Laotian border, and then another bus from the border to the embassy--about 14 hours in all. She waited in line and turned in her paperwork. Tonight (right now, actually), she's staying in a cheap guest house and tomorrow afternoon, she picks up her visa and then another 14-hour trip. She gets back to Chiang Mai at 5 am and then goes to work at 8 am. Ah, to be young again! Have a good day, everyone!

Thanks Rena and I'll be sure to ask for the cover, it sounds like Karen has bundles of energy these days which is just as well with a bus trip that long and then almost straight to work! :) I'm meeting Jennifer's daughter Ashley on the 26th for lunch in Dublin, you may remember she also was in Sth Korea and is now back packing her way all around Europe! Jennifer said she's so jealous and I'm just amazed at her bravery as don't think I could do it even now without getting lost lol.... Thanks Julie and I bought my last online but think there's better deals in the shops here now!

Have a nice meet-up with Ashley, Tricia. I do remember that she was in S. Korea. These girls have so much courage and are so fearless--or better yet, they have fears, but they don't let the fears stop them! I think buying your computer in a shop is probably a good idea because you can get all your questions answered, etc. Someone bought a $1300 Mac last week online--using MY credit card! That was the first time that ever happened to me, and I'm grateful that the online Apple store was able to pick up on the problem immediately and cancel the order. Now I have to memorize a new credit card number! That should be my biggest problem in life, right?!

Rena, I'm tired just reading about Karen's lobbing back and forth. My nephew just came home for a 2 week leave (from Afghanistan) and had to take 7 flights for a total of 52 hours travel. agghh, yes that is only for the young. I'm ready to bite the tops off all those cute little drink bottles after just a few hours on a plane (add screaming baby or bratty kid kicking the back of my seat). I think there should be sedation travel, in all forms, bus, car, plane. Train is the least offensive. Plop into your seat, start the IV(has to be a really good stick), and remove it just before arriving. hmmm, i might be on to something I would like to see those cat eating olympics. He who eats the fastest..... Tricia, Hope you get a speedy new computer! Hard to believe we used to have to wait for dial-up! The lunch with Ashley sounds great. We've been telling our kids they can do what ever they put their minds to, and follow their dreams....and now they're doing it.

Lol thanks Sharon and the sedation sounds a good idea to me, I love train travel!:) Rena thats awful and I'm so glad they found it quickly and cancelled the order, my last laptop was bought online from Dell and I just heard some people are complaining their credit card details were hacked from that site too! Our local town has some great deals and the local's are trying to support the business's during the recession to help keep jobs going etc...

Rena, Karen is one brave and adventurous girl! When is it she is coming for a few days? Sleep lots ahead of time so you can be awake for whenever she is awake...with jet lag and all..Glad they caught that order before it went out. Love the picture in my head of you trying to herd cats! I ended up schlepping cat food back and forth between home and Las Vegas. The grand kitties not liking/ getting sick so the girls were trading and I was the pack mule. Tricia, Nice to support your local businesses...also easier to get help if a problem arises, harder to explain what to do over the phone and often half a world away! Hope everyone has a good day!

I don't normally rave about a book, but just read Room, by Emma Donoghue. Fascinating, couldn't put it down, thought about it when I wasn't reading it...until I was done. And think I'll never complain about anything again (remind me I said that please). If anyone is looking for a read to "take you away" this is the ticket. Difficult to get onboard at first, but then you can't put it down.

Sharonma - I read it as well and like it very much! I'm now reading 51 Shades of Grey (along with the rest of the world :) Hug Elaine
