I just got home from the hospital an hour ago. They took out Don's catheter and now they have to see how his kidneys are functioning. They say his kidneys are improving very slowly but they are concerned. He thought he was coming home today but I was skeptical. When he comes home he will have a nurse coming in to check him for a week or two. He will also have a physical therapist coming to our house. He now has a cane.....I can't believe he is so happy to have a cane????? He needs it to go up and down the steps. The therapist had him using it today and said he did well. I sure hope I can handle this. That is why they are going to have a nurse come for at least a week or two. I wanted to come home early today. I feel sorry for Snowball being left alone all day. I helped Don take his first shower and he was so happy as the sponge baths didn't do the job. He was so happy! He may come home tomorrow but I rather doubt it. When I left he was snoring. He has several people coming to visit him tonight. I will keep you posted. I am waiting to schedule my Reclast (for my osteoporis) as Tricia tells me it can give you flu like symptoms and I think I need to feel well when Don comes home. Once we have him doing ok I will take care of me. My onco was able to do this for me as there is no way I could pay for it right now. I bet they will send Don home on a lot of new meds. Hugs to all of you, Mary

Annette and Malcolm, I'm so happy to hear your good news! Mary, I'm glad that Don is seeing some improvement. It's so good that you'll have help when he gets home. I hope that he is stronger and feeling more stable soon. You are such a wonderful, devoted wife. Don is lucky to have you.

Mary I sure hope Don continues to improve. Glad they will have someone come in. It will make the transition so much easier!! Tell him we all are thinking of you both!! I posted in FB and I do have a vestibular schwannoma. It's basically a small tumor on the auticle nerve in my head. They typically are non-cancerous but will get it out due to the the symptoms I'm experiencing at this point. Dizziness, vertigo and ringing in my ears. We are requesting this be added to trip to Mayo. Little frightening but doing okay. Thank you all for your concern over the months!!

Mary, Just my 2 cents, but I would insist that Don go to a rehab before returning home. I don't think a PT stopping at your home a few x'x per week will be enough. He is weak, and doesn't need a fall. Keeping you in my thoughts(((((()))))) Jean, I'm sorry you have to deal with this, but good news that it is a b9 growth. I hope that a tx plan is formed and it wont be too hard to handle. When is the mayo consult? Malcolm, many Congratulations and your well deserved nanners!!!

Jean, I'm sorry about the results. I hope that you can get this done at Mayo and finally get relief from all the symptoms that have been so miserable. As Tricia said, thank goodness it's benign. Wishing you a speedy, successful resolution. xo

Just wanted to let you know that my sister Linda just got the results of her genetic testing: negative! She was the last of the four of us to be tested, and we are so relieved. It's such an odd thing: My brother and I are positive, and my two sisters, including the one who had breast cancer last year, are negative. I guess my brother and I drew the short straws. I just hope that my family is done with cancer.
