Agree with the majority of the posts here. I just read the review of a book in which the author criticizes Mother Teresa because she accepted money from Idi Amin (sp?), a world-leader know to be a despot. Good for her; have no doubt she put the money to work relieving pain and suffering. I'm grateful for every dollar going toward research and treatment of cancer regardless of the source.
Diagnosed 8/8/2011 Lumpectomy 8/25/11 Invasive Ductile - Stage II; microscopic node involvement. 33 rads completed 10/31/11 11/4 begin hormone interceptor therapy. Every day the only thing we control is our attitude and the choice we make shapes how we experience life as well as the imprint we make on others.

Our partnering is about education as well. The partnership with KFC included the KFC bucket with messaging about breast cancer awareness and self exams. For members of the public that frequent fast food establishments, this is a way to educate them about breast cancer by providing information about the disease they may otherwise not be exposed to. The more messaging that is out there in different ways, the more people we can reach and educate, which helps decrease the instances of mortality from the disease. Think of this scenario: A woman who goes into KFC often to feed her family walks out with the Komen bucket. When home, she reads some of the information on the bucket, which includes the mention of komen.org. She's never considered her breast health before and now she's curious. She visits komen.org and starts to educate herself, including a great deal of information on diet and the latest findings on food and its connection with cancer. She's now more educated and may consider visiting her doctor and/or modifying her diet. The money donated to Komen from the purchase of that bucket goes to breast cancer research and now she's also more educated about her own health.

Susie, I hear you! I was told to avoid soy as a rule, and eat some yogurt to help with some other issues. Sigh. Yes I've also concluded that living is bad for your health...but considering the other option, I will still opt for life and try to hang in there the best I can! Hmm....my yogurt is very low carb.... As for support/marketing, many corporations try to support popular/community causes...if they want to toss some of their profits to BC research, more power to them. I get how it can seem ironic, but we can use those funds for more R&D to help find a cure eventually! With all the targeted therapies that are being developed...well I just think that gets us closer to where we want to be with killing this disease ultimately. Can you imagine a vaccine that would really work available to the masses (like polio, chicken pox etc)? Marvelous someday...so KFC or whomever, keep sending in those funds! Suzanne

There is nothing the proves 100% that whatever causes cancer. I eat like I always have. Everything is MAY cause. I don't get concerned about it. No I do not want cancer to return but I believe what goes on inside my body will do what it wants to no matter what I put in it(well except gaining weight that I do control). Cures have been found for many diseases I believe more cures will be found and yes certain cancers HOPE AND BELIEVE
