Hi everyone and welcome Anna. I hope everyone is doing all right. I'm doing well. Nothing much has changed except for the wonderful news (which I posted on Sound Off) that my daughter tested negative for the BRCA mutation. That has been on my mind ever since I tested positive for BRCA2 six years go. So many things have gone wrong for my poor girl over the years. She's always worked her problems through and come out fine--better than fine, actually--but she's had her struggles. So, to find out that this was one challenge she doesn't have to face--well, the feeling is indescribable. I know that she'll still need to be vigilant because there are other factors that contribute to breast cancer, but at least her risk is not as high as mine was.

I hope that all of you who are still in treatment are feeling OK and that the side effects are not too bad for you. To all of you--I think of you often. You are a very special group of women.

Love,
Rena

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing.  I am feeling really good and my eye disease is under control which is a huge relief.  It's just a quiet day with lots of rain showers in the NW.  Hope you all are having a relaxing weekend.

Warmly,
Sadie

Hi fabulous triples! welcome scotter! Rena!!! that is great news about your daughter. I am doing okay though my diet has fallen off due to a lot of stress all work related. I see my oncologist for my 3 month check in on CLL and she always does a tumor marker test and checks the boobs. I was doing so well and have now put some weight back on...yuk.  I know I can get things going again and have decided to start to shift the way I live my life..I mean after all why shouldn't I expect good things to happen to me? Love to you all! Gail

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to get some opinions on tumor markers tests.  I was pretty much hands on during my treatment, but have never asked about my tumor markers.  I tend to worry about everything, and have read they are not very reliable with breast cancer.  Any thoughts?

Thanks.
Anna

Hi Anna. I can't answer your question, as I don't think tumor markers even existed when I was treated. The other ladies will help out, I'm sure. And, since the Sound Off forum gets so much traffic, you might want to post your question there. Take care. Rena

Well dear fabulous triples..I saw my oncologist for my three month check-in and while she said she has put my bc status on the way back burner as I am almost 4 years with ned and no issues at all BUT my white cell count is almost double from last year and we know what that means. Sigh...She said though my organs seem fine and she only felt one area that was a little swollen in my neck (the main ones checked are liver, spleen and lymph glands) . She also said that watching for a double count within a year if she was to suggest treatment started it woyuld mean more toxicity (chemo). So, we agreed to keeping fingers crossed for now and I hope that in 3 months the count isn't higher. Sigh...

Gail, tell your white cells to calm down!  I know - if only it was that easy huh.  I am sorry to hear that they have escalated so much in the last year and will be keeping you in my heart and on my mind that they start to go the other way.

Hugs and prayers,
Chelsea

Gail - Sorry to hear about your white cell count and hope that they decide to go other way.  We all live with the same fears and they suck big time!  I'll be thinking positive thought for you.  Keep up posted.

Hug,
Elaine
