Dana,

I haven't actually started radiation yet but at my consult they told me to just use equal parts of baking soda and cornstarch for deodorant. I know baking soda is great for odor and cornstarch absorbs moisture and reduces chafing. It sounds good to me and it is cheap and safe. I'm going to mix up a batch and try it this weekend. I can always get the commercial stuff if it doesn't work. All I can say is if it works on me, it will work on anyone. I don't perspire...I sweat buckets! It's a good thing I live where there are cold long winters!

I have not started radiation treatments yet but will have 30. I go for the mold and CT on June 30. All the information has really helped. I'm sure I'll be checking in on this thread from time to time. Thanks for the good info.

I only have 1 more rad. Then I will be done with treatment. I can hardly wait to sleep in late, and just knowing that I won't have any appointments makes me so happy.

I had the quadrant brachytherapy. I finished 2 weeks ago and have had hardly any skin reaction. I do feel some fatigue at odd times.  I was very fortunate to be able to have this therapy twice a day for 5 days. That was tiring enough I cannot imagine having to go for 33 treatments as it is 100 miles round trip to the hospital.

I am new to this site & still do not know how to use it properly...
I have surgery coming up & most likely radiation after that.  Had chemo 10 yrs ago, so know nothing about rads.  Are you saying that at first they radiate your entire body?  I thought it was focused on the tumor site.  I must have a lot to learn.  And to whoever started this site....THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I believe they only focus on the tumor site. It was a piece of cake compared to what others have been through. My skin never burned. The hardest part was finding a cotton bra so your breasts can breathe during radiation. Found one at Walmart of all places. They do put you in a machine to align you with everything in the beginning, no big deal.Welcome.

I meant to ask you. you took the Tamoxifen after your first bout and it still returned?

I did take tamox. for about 1 1/2 yr, but it made me so miserable with the side effects I stopped taking it.  Dumb, huh?  Of course, 10 yrs ago they did not really know if it helped or not, just hoped it would.  I think now they know more.  Plus now I am menopausal on my own, so it would not matter I dont think.
