Hi I am new to this. I went for a follow up mammogram on Monday 9/24/12 and was told by the radiologist that I have a mass and it looks like cancer. I had no idea that I even had a mass, it was not felt by my primary care Dr. on the 19th. I went in for a routine yearly mammo in July and they told me they needed another scan, so this is a complete shock to me. I go for a needle biopsy tommorrow and I am terrified. The radiologist said I have a multifocal mass with calsification in another area. The mass is 1.75 cm by 1.1. I really need someone to talk to I feel so alone.

Thank You so much, Tricia. It is all so confusing to me. My husband and children are devastated and so worried. I think after I get the results of the biopsy and know what battle it is that I have to fight, I will feel so much better mentally. I guess it is the fear of the unknown that has me down and so depressed. I am so happy that I found this board so that I can at least express my concerns and fears to people that care and are fighting the same battles that I am.

Hi.  I was diagnosed with stage III lobular breast cancer in Sept. 2010.  6cm tumor, 5/17 lymph nodes positive.  Did chemo (Adria, Cytoxan, Taxol) , radiation, anastrozole.  Had TRAM flap surgery 5-2012.

cyndy, Welcome! Just so you know 80% of biopsies are benign....not cancerous! Not to say yours is or isn't but they do bx's on things that look suspicious but they don't really know till after the bx. The biopsy isn't bad or that painful..plan to go somewhere else in your mind when having it done. I took a trip to the grand canyon! Know we are here, to listen, support, try to give answers and send positive thoughts. Do come back! Hope and strength, Julie

Hello...I have had multiple biopsies..all benign up to this point..Recently I had a 6 mth follow up...once complete the nurse came over and said looks fine come back in 6 mths...then my breast specialist physician (his nurse)called me and said he wanted to see me..I asked y as the radiologist said everything was fine till March...I asked her to please be sure he really needed to see me as it was far away and i have little ones and if it was just for him to tell me the same thing the radiologist said then can we skip it. So she said that she would check with him...2 weeks passed I heard nothing and forgot about it...then she calls and says he wants to see you...i say why again for same reasons..she said it was a birad 3 and hyperechoic and that he wanted to check me out and review the films again etc...everything i have read online says birad 3 is barely used any more and no reason for a dr visit at least for 6 mths...believe me im not trying to be difficult i go through this a lot...i guess im just wondering what is he seeing that the radiologist didnt..any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hello, I'm Clare & just joined "the club".  Looking for support, information and encouragement.  I feel that I knew inside that some time this would happen to me as my Mom survived 2 occurrences of BC in the early 1970's with radical mastectomies and radiation.  I have gotten through  BL mastectomy & expanders very well - I think the expander fills were more uncomfortable than the surgery.  My daughter is scheduled for genetic counseling the end of the month.  BRCA1+ and TN, I feel fortunate to have discovered this early at Stage 1a via routine mammo which I've always been diligent about.  Started T/C DD chemo on 9/25 which I guess I'm tolerating fairly well, and am 1/4 through!  I have a wonderful husband of 32 years, family, friends and colleagues who are extremely supportive.
Clare from Colorado age 52
DX: 7/30/12, BRCA1+, TN IDC, 1.5cm, Grade 2, 0/3 nodes, Stage 1a
BM 8/28/12 w/ expanders
T/C 4 DD 9/12 to 11/12 in progress
Plan for perm implants & Oophorectomy 12/12

Welcome Claire:

I am sorry that you had to join this club as well.  It sounds like you are doing pretty well with the chemo.  The implant procedure is pretty easy at least I thought so.  Glad to hear that you have a wonderful support system in place as it is very helpful.  You will definitely find what you are looking for on this site.  There are many women who have been or are at the same point you are that will help with information.  Support I can give and hope that your remaining treatments go as well for you at the first 1/4th.

I'm really not sure but it suggests to me it was different or a contradiction perhaps, you could call and ask the Dr though to put your mind at ease.

Hi Cyndy,
I've just recently joined the club also.  I was in the same chaotic state that you must be in only 1 week ago. I hope your needle biopsy comes back with good results for you.  Just know there are lots of ((((hugs)))), knowledge and compassion on this site.  It really helped me to know that my feelings were "normal".  Keep us posted.  And remember You Are Not Alone - we are all here!

Hi, my name is Carol.  I live in the Denver area.  I've never belonged to a forum but this is the perfect place to get information and support.  I've just been diagnosed with pre-cancerous calcifications.  I know this is not a dire situation and not close to what many of you are facing or experiencing. Still, my life is changing even if just a bit.  Can anyone help on the issue of side effects for medication? I'm on tomoxifen for 5 years and just started, and now have to get an ultrasound and then after that a mammogram, am looking at going on a trial for severe hot flashes, am dehydrated from sweating so much....and and and...
Thank you all for being here...

My name is Chelle. I was diagnosed with triple negative Stage IIIc malignant IDC breast cancer in November 2011. I had 5 months of chemo then a double masectomy. Unfortunately, I had to stop treatment after that because of no finances. I do not know where I stand right now with this disease but I am still here. I wake each morning and smile because I was given another day to enjoy my children and life in general. Sorry, I just needed to vent.

Should I be scared there really isn't any more treatment for me? I know I was to take 37 treatments of tomotherapy.
