Yeah Julie !!  Glad you found the dress. You may be able to get a small matching handbag to go with it. I found one at David's on sale for 10.00. But.. what do I do? I forgot to pack it !!  LOL Oh chemo head strikes again. Oh well, at least I remembered the dress. I actually carried the dress and husbands new suit in a garment bag onto the plane. I figured, they can lose my luggage but I am going to have my dress !!
Congrats on the wedding, I know you will look beautiful. Make sure you have a hanky for the tears of happiness.

My joy today is that I'm off to Austin to see my daughter, son-in-law, and the rug rats!  I can't wait for my 'airport hug' from my daughter.   Two weeks of fun - woo hoo!

Hug,

Have a blast Elaine!
My joy today is the love of my new puppy!  I sit on the floor and he comes over to sit in my lap.  Won't be able to do that too much longer as he is already 26 lbs @ 11 weeks old.  He looks like the just deceased polar bear,  knut.
Should have called him Chewy...chew, chew and chew some more.  Pleeaassee, just chew the chewy toys!

PalsElaine, have a wonderful time with your family.  I can hear you laughing already!!!  Don't forget your camera.        Sharon, Have you heard from Pat?   I emailed her but no response.  Hope she is ok.  What did you name the puppy (26 lb) ?  I am so happy that found a new love to replace the empty feelings you have when you lose a pet that you love.  He really sounds adorable.  Have a fun day!   Hugs,   Mary L

Grace,
That is what we did when we went to our son's wedding...carried on our clothes.  Figured we could buy anything else we needed if our bags went missing....but not the dress!

Sharon,
26lbs already!!! Goodness, you are right, soon to big to sit in your lap! LOL
Elaine,

Sharon, I had a 75 lb lap dog at one time.  She was lab/chow mix and my little ball of fur grew wayyyy big.  She would sit on my lap and I could see nothing.  She came running in to see my dad who was sitting on the couch and when she jumped up she, my dad and the couch all flipped over.  I never had another big dog but boy did i love her.  She could walk onto our bed.  No jumping neccessary.  If she wanted my husbands spot, she took it and he'd end up on the floor.  I'm laughing cause I havent thought about this in a long time. so that is my joy for today.  Thanks for sparking a memory!!

Jean,
Thats too funny about the couch.  Reminds me of "Marley and Me"
My boy Tucker (my avatar) never jumped or licked.  Good thing, he was 95 lbs!
Little Texas is not going to be little for much longer!
He met the cat tonight, who finally came down from hiding upstairs for the past 2 weeks, and it wasn't pretty.  Alot of barking and hissing, lol

Re:Daily Diary of Joy - Wednesday, March 23, 2011 2:50 AM
My joy in the wee small hours of the morning is chemo-related. The diuretics my med onc prescribed to reduce the nasty fluid retention in my legs seem to be working after only one day's dosages. HOOORRRAAAY! It's a pleasure I never thought could be as great as it is to see my kneecaps again instead of what looked like flesh-covered softballs yesterday.

The downside, though, is having to pee about every half hour during the day.

Fluid buildup to that extent was something I didn't know could be a side effect of chemo until it happened to me right before my third infusion.

Drugs, drugs and more drugs...but hey, when they do what they're supposed to do, they're a godsend.

I sure didn't know your legs could swell that much from chemo either, Elaine. Yesterday, they were so swollen that I couldn't squat without feeling I had oddly squishy pillows behind my knees...a weird and uncomfortable sensation.

Both legs look about halfway normal today, so I'm somewhat more reconciled to having added two more drugs to my immediate post-infusion lineup.

I am NOT, however, acceding to my insurance's new dictate that oral Emend given at infusion time works just as well as the Emend by IV. It doesn't begin to for me. I've been awakened by nausea every morning for the last two days that is relieved only after I take the Emend. Didn't have any but quite mild "FEED ME!" nausea early in the day previously. I do not care in the least that we'll have to pay the difference. Not waking up in the night with very queasy tummy will be a joy I will gladly pay for OOP. I wish I'd trusted my gut and said to the nurse, "No, I don't think so. I don't care if I have to pay the difference. I want the Emend by IV." I sure will be saying that for my last chemo.

Insurance companies go too far trying to pad their pockets when it's long been known that medication delivered by IV or injection typically works far better than the same taken by mouth.

Okay, enough rant on the joy thread, back to business more cheery,
Dot

Sharon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am so happy for you. Great news !!

I got for my 3 month check up on Monday, gotta talk to the doc about a few things.
Having issues with my joints/fingers and knees, ankles etc. I did have an episode several weeks ago where one of my fingers got shooting pains and swelled up. My general doc had blood work done and the results came in that it may be Lupus !!  YIKES I sure hope not. He said they would run some more test but I do want to let the onco know about it as well.
