Karen!  Good Morning and congratulations on you mammo!  That is always such a relief when that is over, huh?  They read mine right away as well and I am so thankful for that.  Somehow I got off schedule with my onc and instead of seeing them both and haing the mammo around the same time, I see the onc in October and the rest in December!  Sort of stretches out the worry, huh...anyway, great news ad I love the carnation idea!!!

Karen,
Congrats on the good mammo!

Susie,
Sorry you have to wait so long to get the scan and results.  I hope you can keep yourself busy and distracted until you get the good news.  Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

My Mom's US...She told me the radiologist gave her the option of having a bx or waiting 6 months to see if there is a change.  Of course she opted to wait.  I tried to tell her a bx would give her piece of mind, but she doesn't want to be poked or prodded.  She's had many medical issues in the past few years.  So we will wait.
Thanks for thinking of her,  and me:)

Got a call from onc office.  They confirmed my appt for tomorrow,  I asked about the MRI the nurse said the dr. wants to talk to me about it tomorrow.  That doesn't sound good to me since they told me quite happily that the PET looked normal.  I will choose to think it's ok for now because how could a PET look normal if an MRI does not.  oy...sigh

Yay for a bone scan Susie.

Yay for good news in general  :)

Marianne- I had a clear pet/ct, but the mri was inconclusive, a later mri weeks later was also clear though so keep those positive thoughts:)

Sharon, I can understand your Mom wanting to wait if shes had a lot of past issue's, hoping all will be well for her:)

I'm meeting with my oncologist today.  First time since completing all my treatments.  Not sure what to expect?  Is there anything specific I should be asking about?  Still feeling a bit nauseous...I'm assuming from the radiation...but now what comes next?

Malcolm,
My follow ups with my onc. are simple and usually very quick..A blood draw, a few questions and I am on my way.  Hope all goes well for you today..

I am starting to feel the anxiety of the bone scan tomorrow, damn it I hate this disease...And then I have to wait over the weekend for results..I am trying to stay positive and hope and pray it is a back problem or the aromasin..Going to the gym to try and relieve some stress..Oh the joys of canSer.

Marianna, hoping for an all clear on the MRI..The waiting is awful...

Sharon-Your Mom is lucky to have you and how your honor her wishes, even when it is hard to do.

Hugs,

Susie

Malcolm,

I imagine your onc will now want to begin hormone therapy and will discuss that with you.   I'd also ask what his thoughts are on follow up etc, and whether he does routine blood draws or scans although most don't without symptoms.

Oh!    Karen - forgot your nanas for the negative mammo - so glad they read it right away!

Marianna - oh it is so hard to wait.  Pets and mris show different things - but chances are better for a negative mri if your pet is negative..  B9, B9!!!  Show nothing, tests!

Malcolm, ask about anything and everything you need to - that is what you are there for. Anxiety about something is bad for you, and there is no such thing as a stupid question.  My visits also go fast - very short physical, a how're ya doing, tumor marker levels, etc.  I have osteoporosis, so last time I got reclast (a 15 minute IV infusion),  My surgeon does a more thorough breast exam, same how're ya doing, and is more involved in the scans.  The radiologist is like the surgeon.  Next December I will go to the radiologist (she will read stuff right away for me so no anxiety), then 2 weeks later I'll see the other 2.

My appointment was canceled today and it was just a "see how you're doing" meeting.  No blood draws or anything else.  That's scheduled for mid-September.  Are scans and MRI's the norm?
He gave me the prescription for Tamoxifen last time I saw him and I had it filled.  I don't think I'll start taking it for another week since I'm going on vacation.  I don't want to experience side effects when I'm on vacation (my first since my diagnosis).  Any issues with waiting?  Any recommendations on when and with what I should or shouldn't take the pill with?

Malcolm - I doubt that you will have any side effects during the first week.  I may be wrong, but I started my Arimidex right before Thanksgiving almost two years ago and drove to and from KY to be with family.  It was no problem at all!
Susie - imagine how good you are going to feel when you get the" PET scan is normal" report!  I am sending positive vibes!
Sharon - my mom would have done the exact same thing!  Why put yourself through that if it isn't absolutely necessary?  You both are in my prayers every day.
Marianna - praying for B9 results for you!!!!!  They dont always tell us everything over the phone....
I love you guys...can't imagine hanging out with a better group in our waiting room than all of you!!!  Have a great day!

Hi Ladies -- Hope all is going well and results will all be what we pray for all the time.

Just wanted to say I've been taking Arimidex for two years (hard to believe) with very little effect except for hot flashes and creaky knees when I try to get up from a crouching position.

ThinkPink:  I also decided no nip.  Instead, I use temporary tattoos when I want to 'dress her up' ... lol.

Hug,
Elaine
