Re:The waiting room!!! - Saturday, January 11, 2014 4:41 PM
Well the saga continues--

Spent 8 hours in the er yesterday.  Still don't know what the hell the problem is.  They did every test imaginable to rule out heart issues.  All tests for that came back fine.  They also checked my gall bladder and that was fine as well.  Still couldn't lay down or take a deep breathe without pain.  Anytime I moved I had a pain.  They released me while I was still in pain with a prescription for Norco.  The discharge instructions were if I was in pain and the medication didn't help come back.  REALLY!!  I was pissed.  Evidently the pain that I was in doesn't/didn't count.

Called my primary's office and left a message for him as he saw me earlier in the er.  He called me back later in the evening and wanted to know if I was pain free.  My comment was short and to the point.  Hell no!  Why would I be pain free when nothing was done to help me.  Found out he had told the er doc to give me a pain shot before I left and they neglected to do it.

Now I have to contact the gastro doctor to see if they can move up the endoscope.  I tried that last week when I had the same issue but was told that there wasn't an opening.  My primary told me he sent paperwork over explaining the urgency.  I think he did that after I called his office on my way home from the hospital telling him how angry I was and that I thought he was supposed to be looking after my medical well being.

Let's see what Monday has to offer.  As of right now the pain is still there but it isn't as intense as it was.  Still not feeling well.  Now I get to add back/ass problem from being on that gurney for so long.  It;s always something.

Tina,

There isn't any reason why they could not have given you an endoscopy while you were in the ER  Last April I went to ER with pain and they admitted me and did an endoscopy the next day and found 2 bleeding ulcers.

They are not treating you very good.  There is such a thing as Emergency Endoscopy.  The doc who did mine had a full schedule and he fit me in as last procedure of the day.

Thinking of you and hope you have the problem resolve very soon.

DJ  Thank you.  The doctors told me that they couldn't do the endoscope unless I had bleeding.  Otherwise it had to be an outpatient procedure.

I agree the treatment wasn't the best.  I am glad that it wasn't heart related but really want to know what this is.

Well I am going to venture to work today.  I am feeling better but still not the best.  When I eat something the pains get intense again so it definitely makes me believe it is GI related.  I'm not looking forward to facing the bosses.  The last couple of times I've taken off being sick, something has been said.  The way I see it, I've been there 15 1/2 years and really never took time off until all the surgeries.  Even then I worked from home.  My work history should be unquestionable.  Oh well I'll lock myself in my office until it's time for my followup visit with the doctor today.

Everyone take care.

Tina,

Ask the people who complain if they want to walk in your shoes?

Do you think you might have an ulcer?  Years ago I had a couple of them that really hurt when I ate?  Endoscopy would help but there are other test also.

My turn!  Having two suspicious looking (to me) 'moles' on my back checked out tomorrow morning at the dermatologist.  I'll keep y'all posted :)

Good luck, Elaine. I hope the moles are nothing.

Tina, I'm so sorry for your troubles. I'm having an endoscope tomorrow morning, and if I could let you have mine, I would! I hope you get answers very soon. I am glad, though, that they ruled out heart problems.

They moved my endoscope and my colonoscopy to tomorrow. What a wonderful night I am having tonight--

Got home from work to find a water main had just ruptured in front of my house.  Oh thrill.  Had to start the "prep" for the colonoscopy and then the doorbell rings telling me they are going to shut off the water while they work. My heat runs on water.  What a crappy night!  Figuratively and literally.

Oh, Tina, my heart goes out to you. Why does everything happen at once?! The good news is that you will get through this and you'll wake up and not remember a thing about either procedure. Wishing you the best for good results.

Re:The waiting room!!! - Wednesday, January 15, 2014 12:13 PM
Tina and Elaine, I hope you both had good results today. Keeping my fingers crossed for you both. My endocsopy was at 7:30 and I was home by 9:30. I'm still a little loopy--or as I call myself when drugged like this, "Little Lupe." Anyway, my hernia is large--5 cm--but as long as I can manage the acid reflux, I'll leave it alone. There is a surgery to repair it, but even my GI guy said that I shouldn't have it unless things get worse. He removed several small polyps from my stomach and one the size of his thumb! He said he's never seen one that big (Proud hair toss, thumbs locked around my suspenders--I'm just too talented). I'll have the biopsy results in a week or two, but he wasn't terribly concerned.  I need to get some work done today, but it may not happen. Between not sleeping well and then being given all the drugs, I may not have the brain power. Lifetime Movie Channel, here I come! Hope every thing is OK with you all. Tina, let us know what happened today.

Yay! Rena -- Just go for the Lifetime Movie Channel it's sure to put you to sleep!

Me:  Both moles are nothing, but he will biopsy one cause I told him it always itches -- and he's being careful and conservative as he said -- that's ok with me!

Tina - Fill us in when you can.

Thank you Rena about my ct scan.

I hope Elaine that the biopsy result will show it isn't anything.  Rena, I hope when your results come back it proves to be b-9.

I hope your doing ok, Tina.  Post when you are able too.
