Hi Sue!

Wonderful on having an easier time of it, Round 2! I'm hoping for the same, but then, you never really know.  I really wouldn't give the neuropathy a second glance presently.  For me, I dreaded the anticipated side effects because I already suffer from crippling arthritis in my back as well as arthritis in all my joints, and diarrhea.

My "side effects" were lessened joint pain (exception spine), unnoticeable changes to neuropathy, constipation instead of diarrhea.  I had only a slight flu-like feeling on day 3.  I stayed indoors primarily to wait for the bomb to drop and it never did. I'm a week or 2 behind you so we'll see with round 2.

Please just anticipate whatever works for you.  I think I kind of always anticipate the worst so that I'm pleased when it doesn't happen, rather than the other way around.

Stay positive tho!  Now, if that doesn't sound all conflicted! LOL!

Hi ladies,

Wishing you all an easy time with chemo and want you to know I'm thinking about you all even though I don't post on this thread very often.

Have to admit I feel a bit "guilty" because I had an easy time with chemo.  I went into it knowing that I would lose my hair for sure and decided I would deal with the side effects, IF they happened to show up.  I got lucky -- hardly any nausea, no fatigue to speak of (went to the gym as usual), ate anything I wanted, etc.

I wish you all the same experience I (and I know others) have had.  GO WARRIORS!!

Hug

Marian,
I like you will look for the worse possible case to be prepared and armed and then love it when I am pleasantly surprised.  This chemo round was so much better and no bomb dropping with the exception of the SOB (Shortness of breath) and the eyes focusing.  That is really disturbing me the most because I read a lot, I work on the computer and I can't focus.  Grrrrrr.

I am actually going to see the oncologist again on Wed just to discuss the side effects.  I want to know what each of the side effects are caused from (chemo or the drugs to help with chemo side effects).  Just so I can get a handle on things.  With the steroids, My A/S is doing well.  But that Tired/Wired feeling is driving me crazy.

All in All, I can take all of this versus nausea and vomiting.  But, I still think it can be better controlled.  Keep in touch and keep us posted.  We will be comparing all along the journey.

Hey Sue,

Btw, your hat is mon-scrumptious!  (My dad's origination.)

Yes, the vision impairment is tragic.  My mom is now blind and I truly sympathize with her since she was always a voracious reader.  She cannot walk by herself, cannot see tv and cannot read.  Can't convince her to look into audio books so I may just buy her one anyway.

New (probably unfounded) scare is that I have ovarian cancer b/c of some aches and slight pains down there.  I get my 2nd treatment Monday and my onc will be there for this one so I'll see what she says.

Otherwise just cannot complain.  It's another gorgeous God-given day in Atlanta, colors are out-doing themselves.  It looks as if every tree is in competition with the other for 1st prize.  Or, better yet, they're all in unison giving thanks to God!

Warmly, Marian

I had my last chemo treatment on the 13th. I was on Taxotere too, and some of the side effects are a major pain in the you know what. I was always out of breath, couldn’t walk 10 steps without being out. My onco did order a CT on my lungs and a Echo Cardiogram to make sure things were ok, which they were. I also had problems with my legs swelling too. As for the eye sight I was told that, that too is a side effect. My onco told to wait 6-8 weeks after chemo to have my eyes checked and to also go to the dentist. I learned that most of the weird stuff that I was experiencing was due to chemo, but I also had a list to go over with my onco at all my appointments. You just never know. I am waiting to get my taste buds back in order, everything tastes like metallic….yep another one of those wonderful side effects.

Hang in there ladies…just remember it’s all temporary, before you know it you will be done with chemo and on to a new experience. At times I didn’t know if I could or would make it thru it, but I have all the wonderful ladies on here to thank. They are truly my Komen angels, with the love, support, and knowledge they gave me I feel blessed.

Congrats Donna on your chemo completion, woo hoo!! As I wrote on my radiation post, I can't remember or too tired to remember how to insert the nanners, I am sure Trish will come to our rescue, lol!!
Thank Trish, I can always count on you!

My last chemo was August 3rd & I am still dealing with side affects of Taxtore/Cytoxan & sitting down & getting up & walking hurts, still getting physical therapy on my right arm & my back/legs.  I can't wait for the day when the pain goes away....

Marian & Skalsta, hang in there, it's rough but it is doable!!!
Sorry if I miss anybody else here!, it's been a while since I read everybody's posts.

Take care, y'all.

I did go to the Dr on Wed. I have a touch of bronchitis. As soon as I used the inhaler, I felt so much better. I could actually take a deep breath. So at least there was an explanation for the shortness of Breath. I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that I will get thru this. But there are days when you just want to scream. I wrote on my Caringbridge site that I was tired of all the side effects of chemo, and I wanted my life back etc. Next thing I know, I am getting a ton of phone calls and emails and responses back with people concerned that I am depressed. Of course I am depressed. My entire life changed. This is the toughest thing I have ever had to experience and yet, they don't understand. I try to explain but they don't understand. You women understand because you are or have gone thru this. My nurse told me in a couple of years, I could plan and go on a mountain climb and that would seem like a walk around the block compared to this. Yet, I am bombarded with concern that I am depressed and now having to justify my emotions and comments. And assure people that I am not depressed to the point of concern. When you are an active person and then realize that you eat breakfast and are exhausted and need a nap, you will get depressed. Because that is not who you are. Anyway - as usual, thanks for being here for me. I encourage others to sign in and post. Because this is a wonderful site to belong to even though none of us chose to wear these shoes.
