Re:Winter chemo ladies! - Wednesday, January 19, 2011 4:50 PM
Hi, well yesterday was my last chemo!!! (and today is my birthday too!).  I know Dap had her last one yesterday also.  Excited, even though need to get through the bone pain later this week, it's still a milestone.

For me surgery is next, so I have my breast MRI tomorrow and meeting with the breast surgeon the following Monday.

Right now, I'm mainly worried about not overdoing it at work and at home, over the next few weeks as sometimes I don't realize how tired I am.  I'll just have to try to be more aware!

Hi winter chemo buddies!

I have been posting in other areas of the forum but thought I should join in the discussion here too.

I started A/C x4 (every 14 days) on December 30th, and have my 3rd treatment tomorrow. I'll do weekly Taxol x12 starting in late February.

Like someone said earlier, so far the 1st was the worst, the 2nd was WAY better, so I'm hoping the 3rd round goes even better. Definitely the fatigue is the worst on days 4 and 5. By day 6 I'm feeling good and the "off week" I actually feel back to normal.

One side effect I've had both times is around day 3 or 4, I get this feeling like I have a bruise all over my body. It makes it painful to sit or lay down, although once I'm actually sitting/lying down, I don't hurt if I don't move around too much. Anyone else have that?? any tips?

Keep it up!! We can do it!!!!!!!!

Hugs,
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Its possible this sore feeling is from the neulasta/neupogen shots if you get them???

I did'nt have this myself but hope it eases very soon for you, I found the taxol far easier to tolerate and hope you will too :)

Hi Tricia,
Yes, I do get the neulasta shot. I figured it's either that or just my cells being damaged, or the nadir period of low immune function? If it follows the first 2 treatments, I should have it starting tomorrow, so fingers crossed that maybe my body is getting used to it more?

glad to report basically no nausea this time! thank you Zofran!!

hugs,
rebecca

Yes, zofran was my best friend too!!

Many people say the neulasta gave them a lot of body pain/aches so I'm fairly sure thats the culprit, I did'nt need it at all for taxol so hang in there!

Hello Winter Chemo Ladies:  I just had my 2nd round of chemo.  1st round went well.  2nd round hit me like a ton of bricks.  I am not liking this chemo one bit!

Hi Colormepink,
sorry to hear about round 2 :( What chemo are you doing? For me, it's getting a little easier each time, but a friend of mine who had different drugs said that each round was harder. So, it could depend a lot on what you are taking?

what side effects were the hardest? maybe we can offer some suggestions...

hang in there,
Rebecca

How long after you finished chemo did you start to feel not so exhausted?  I know it will take weeks, if not months, to feel like myself again, but I was hoping that the overwhelming feeling of exhaustion would go away quickly.

Tuesday will be 3 weeks since my last treatment and then I only have 1 more week before surgery.

I'm sure that it is not helping that it is so cold, and that I'm working and commuting over an hour (though working at home some days).
