Hi All,  I just had my last Chemo treatment yesterday and am feeling good.  Went to the gym yesterday and this morning.  I really think it helps with the tiredness.  It doesn't seem to help with the sleeplessness.  I got a prescription for ambient today and will try that.
I am looking forward to my hair growing back.  I plan to start applying rogain for men on Sunday.  My husband did a pilot study at Penn and it was shown to make hair grow in twice as fast.  I'll let you know if this is true.

Hi Sadie and Claudette and everyone. Claudette, I'm glad to hear you're done with chemo and moving on. I'll be interested in knowing if the Rogaine helps. Sadie, how have you been? I guess this is kind of funny, but here I am a 21-year survivor, and now that I'm 58, all sorts of "late middle age" (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!) ailments are kicking in. Now my cholesterol is soaring, as well as my blood sugar. I'm not surprised about the cholesterol--runs in the family--but I've never had blood sugar problems, so I have to be very careful with my diet and start getting more exercise. The bottom line--as annoying as these things are, they can be corrected, and I'm damn lucky to be alive to go through them! Breast cancer sure gives us perspective on things, doesn't it? Wishing you all well. I'm off to eat my celery stick and take a walk! Love, Rena

Hi Claudette,

Just wanted to say congratulations on finishing you treatments!!yippee!

Hope you get to do something wonderful for yourself.  I live fairly close to the beach, so when I finished radiation I went to the beach for a week.  It was great.

Now you can focus on good health.

Warmly,
Sadie

Hi Rena,
I am doing really well.  My recent PET scan came back clear and all good.  I have to do another one in March because I had a pulmonary embolism three months ago and my oncologist wants to be sure my lungs are clear.  I guess it is different than the regular PET scans I have been having.

I also had my blood sugar rise after treatment.  I have heard this can be a consequence of chemotherapy. Diabetes runs in my family, but  I never had any concern before treatment.  I am taking medication now.
I feel good and have lost some weight, but I have a ways to go.

Tell me more about how you are doing.

Warmly,
Sadie

Hi Everyone!

I just had my lumpectomy today and I am doing amazingly well. Historically, I have a great deal of trouble
with the anesthetic and prior surgery has required hospitalization due to illness. I only had two mild upsets
when I try to sit up and once when I first got up. Other than that, I was pretty good actually. In fact, I ended
up going out to dinner on the way home.

My surgery was slightly longer than usual. My husband told me my surgeon had to go down to the lab
during my surgery. It seems that they were unable to find my tumor in the sample she sent down. So, she
had to go down and find it for them!

I only had two lymph nodes removed and the preliminary findings showed them to be negative. I'm keeping
my fingers crossed!

coco, I work for a Dermatologist and we have hair growth formula. You can get it at the health food stores. It has sawgrass and a multitude of other things. It seems to work better for women. But its not a miracle. It makes hair thicker, but not really growing faster. Rogaine has some of the chemicals, but honestly nothing helps hair grow faster, its a nature thing. They only give the appearance of growing faster because the hair comes in thicker.
