My ongoing joy is the that I go to the gym and lift weights and can still spend up to an hour on the elliptical.  I didn't stop working out all through my treatments and I feel that if I can keep working out, I will survive.  Feels good.

Hug,
Elaine

The joy for me happened yesterday when I spent two hours at the local animal shelter to donate some food/toys and cuddle all the cats there awaiting new homes:)

It was sad in a way because I cant home any more, but lovely to see and pet them:)

Great weekend, Arena Football game on Friday night. The Jacksonville Sharks are going to the playoffs !!
Had my oldest son and his fiances engagement party on Saturday. It was wonderful meeting her friends and seeing my son's college friends again and also spending time with her mom. My youngest son also was able to extend his leave and got to join in the festivities. Tomorrow morning he leaves for Colorado Springs, Ft. Carson. I am sure going to miss him again. We really enjoyed having him home this past month. Although... I have to admit that after it being just hubby and myself, it is very strange to hear the door open up and others coming in and out of the house again. LOL
On a sad note, my old champion corgi passed yesterday. He had lived with my good friends after he retired from the show dog ring. He was almost 15 yrs old. I am happy that he lived a great life with wonderful people.

Sharon -

Auweidersein!!  (sp?)

Have a wonderful trip and you're right, it's always now or never isn't it?  Your mom is very lucky to have you and I hope she (and you) has the time of her life.

I had actually forgotten about this thread and I STARTED IT!!  :)  Thanks to Sharon for posting about her trip to Germany.

My joy today is that my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren are coming in from Austin to do a few days at Disneyland (I live only about 15 miles away).  So, I will be staying at the hotel with them (at the grandkids insistence) and Mickey Mouse!

Sharon - have a great trip!!!   Elaine,  Have fun with Mickey!   Fun things are so precious.   Today I walked in the American Breast Cancer Society Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk with my husband.  This was the first annual for my city.   Koman does a huge Race for the Cure event on Mothers Day but this was the first ACS walk here. I am thankful to my husband for nudging me to go this morning.  We had planned to go but I was so wiped out from my first week back at work that I just could not set the alarm to get up.  I a so glad I went!  I was exhausted after it but I did the whole thing!   The stamina is slowly coming back.  I just loved all the various ways guys and gals sported pink!

Went to my daughters ultra sound today and got to see the twins first hand.  She is 22 weeks into carrying identicle twin boys.  Both are doing very well.  What a gift to be able to share with her.

OOOOH, so you know first hand!!  I know we are elated.  My daughter had been trying for 4 years.  They were going to start adoption procedings in Nov. if she didn't get pregant.  She hadn't taken any fertility meds in over a year.  Being identicals, they were told the drugs had nothing to do with it and they simple have been blessed with two!!  Thanks so much!!!

Jean,

Mine were fraternal boy/girl -- a big surprise - didn't know until three days before they were born.  This was 1969, so no sonograms!  They actually took an x-ray to confirm!  Not only that, but I had to stay in bed for most of my pregnancy and after surgery for incompetent cervix, had to have ALCOHOL in my blood stream at all times to prevent early labor!!  My alcohol of choice was scotch and I didn't drink it again for 11 years!  Kids were born perfect, but we  joke about how 'laid-back' they were  - ha ha.

I thought this was off topic, but on second thought my kids are the JOY OF MY LIFE!

Have a wonderful day.

Hug,
Elaine

Hi y'all -

Just back from a happy visit with daughter and grandkids.  Worked in the kindergarten class of my grandson and the 4th grade class of my granddaughter -- never did that before and I enjoyed it.  Kudos to ALL TEACHERS!!!

I'm feeling great and grateful today and every day!

Oh! I forgot to say I leased a new car!  This is news because I was very attached to my old car which I kept for almost 12 years - a VW Cabrio!  Now I have a 2010 Honda Civic, 4dr.  Love having 4 drs, a big trunk, great mileage and no stress hoping it won't break down ;)

Hug,
Elaine

Jean,
Congratulations on "your" twins!
And Elaine on your new wheels!

My trip to Germany was a huge success.  My Mom rallied and used the wheelchair we brought for her not as a wheelchair but  as a walker (she pushed it)  through the many cobblestone streets.  She was thrilled to stay in the town that bears her family name, and am so grateful I was part of that memory.

Oh one more thing to add to my joylist,  my son got accepted to all the schools he applied to (grad school) so we'll be taking a few road trips in the next few weeks to visit the universities, and help him with the decision of where to go.
