Keeping you all in my thoughts.  I just cannot imagine the pain of losing a child.  Why indeed does pain and suffering exist in the world?

Well ladies, looks as if I am a late bloomer with the chemo side effects.  Got cellulitis of left breast and foot neuropathy all in the same week.  Not to mention my blood work shows I am developing a nice case of anemia.  Life does go on and I have not missed one day of work.  Antibiotics cleared up the cellulites. The neuropathy feels better with this cream he prescribed and I am taking iron for my anemia.  All's well that ends well!

Oh Annette - does it every END?  But clearly you're taking care of it -- hope it goes smoothly from here.

Annette, I got a cellulitis infection as well!  It was the sickest I have been in a very long time.  I had 103 fever and chills for almost three days, my poor half boob was scarlet red, and I had to cancel my trip to PA to meet Sharon and Elaine.  The fun just never ends...

Hi there I am still in treatment and surviving. IBCstage3 her2+ (hormones neg) 2 tumors (23 cm and 5 cm originally) w lymph nodes. Rnd 5 chemo and tumors no longer feelable or seeable. (not been mri yet) chemo appears to have shrunk them away.
Dr says will still have to have a full masectomy and radiation. My question is... if it is essentially gone, wouldn't having a masectomy remove any possibilities of anything being in there? It sounds like overkill to me to have to do radiation as well.  I have been burning from the inside out with chemo to the pt of peeling and blistering and having to have skin lanced and can only imagine how much I would burn if having rad everyday. Anyone able to shed some light on this for me. If this isn't the place to ask, forgive me, I am new and just signed up today, so let me know. Thanks
Jeanee

Hi Jeanee, I'm sorry you had to join us but so pleased you appear to be having a great response so far to chemo, I don't understand why your skin is peeling and burning though as this shouldn't happen with chemo?? To answer your question though many Onc's are now going by new studies showing rads after a mast can really cut the risk of recurrance as they zap any stray cells there from surgery and its sadly still possible to recurr even after a mast. A lumpectomy may be possible too if you had considered that considering you've had so much shrinkage, I assume you're having Herceptin too?? I don't think any treatment you're having is overkill to be honest as both IBC and her2+ are so aggressive anyway it makes sense to treat them with everything you can. I also was her2+ and was glad I did all the treatment back in 2005 that was offered to me and I suspect you may be too one day, good luck! www.her2support.org

Pat sorry to hear you had cellulitis too:(  Glad we are both better and hoping this never happens again.

Saw my onc last week and now looks as if I have a mild case of anemia and possibly a sluggish thyroid.  Both conditions are easy to treat.  Picked up my iron supplements last evening.  It's a watch and wait situation with the thyroid.  And life goes on....

Last week I went to my monthly beast cancer support group and found out that it was being cancelled.  That was the last one due to lack of members.  I guess that is a good thing that the members have moved on but also sad.  Just like here, I've met some amazing women who have helped me along my journey.  I have mixed feelings about the end of the group.  I feel that I might finally be at a good place and don't need to rely on the group but will miss the women in it.

I guess this is just another step in getting to a new normal.

Thats sad Tina, do you have any of their contact numbers to keep in touch?? I hate that this happened here too and I stay here to pay forward the help I received, but I'm pleased I can at least stay in touch with those I want to on FB.

Tina that is too bad.  As a therapist myself I can't imagine stopping a group without giving the members a referral to another local group.  Check with your onc or local hospital.  Most run support groups.  Try to keep in touch on line with members if they want.
For a change all is well over here:)  I feel good, we are going to begin shopping for wedding gowns next month! I actually managed to save enough money to get my daughter a beautiful dress and maybe even have some left over.  I am waiting to purchase mine.  Want to lose a few pounds first.....ok more than a few:(

Tina, I'm sorry the group has to stop meeting and I hope you can stay in touch with some members if that is what you want.  Moving on can be difficult :)

Annette - I'm so happy that you will start preparing for a wedding -- I'm sure you'll lose those 'few' pounds and you will be a gorgeous mother of the bride!

Tina, I'm sorry about your group. I hope that if you feel the need for support, you can connect with other women now. Goodness knows, there are plenty of us out there. In the meantime, you have us!

Annette, have fun dress shopping! It's so nice to have something so happy and positive to focus on.
